It was carefully selected for its sweet, rich flavor as well as deep natural green color. It's best enjoyed as a drinking matcha. It's also ideal for a latte, or in a drink recipe of your choice. This is one of our best ceremonial grades of organic matcha green tea.
Our matcha is of exceptional quality, grown entirely on the pristine hillsides of Uji, Kyoto, where Japanese matcha originated one thousand years ago. Matcha from Uji is prized as the finest in the world. We are proud to be the only bulk source in the Americas offering 100% true, traditional Uji-matcha.
Our Yorokobi matcha is one of the smoothest, most umami-filled organic matcha green teas we've come across. While most organic matchas are very tannic and earthy, the care and attention to growing our beautiful Yorokobi result in a velvety, vegetal sweetness that is a joy to drink. We love how deep and mellow this matcha is!
Our matcha is exceptionally fresh-sourced, shade-grown & stone-milled to order from our friend's family organic matcha manufactory in Uji, Japan. Our matcha is grown solely with natural, organic fertilizers and no agricultural chemicals or pesticides are used.
...The Yorokobi Matcha exceeded enjoyment. Hands down it is the most delicious and enjoyable tea experience I've had. It's so sweet, smooth, and intensely green with a great aroma. It easily rivals matcha from Breakaway Matcha, which goes for way more [money]. This tea is a diamond in the rough. I'll be buying it again and again.
I discovered Mizuba when I read an article on Mind Body Green naming it as one of the best. I made the switch and will never go back. I can see the quality in the color alone and have been drinking it every day and feeling a difference. It's an investment in your health. If you are buying matcha elsewhere the price per unit doesn't even compare. Love this stuff!

Japanese green tea and Japanese matcha tea come together to deliver optimum benefits.* Inspired by a traditional style of green tea called matcha iri genmaicha, we blended crushed sencha and finely powdered matcha with toasted rice to create this earthy, balanced, and healthy genmaicha tea.
Turn your favorite (but outdated) coffee or energy drinks into clean green Tenzo drinks in seconds. Lattes are lattes, espresso shots are matcha shots, the list goes on and on. PS: mixing matcha with honey never hurt.
For you matcha nerds out there, Tenzo is first flush ceremonial matcha. This means we only use the youngest, most nutrient-dense leaves off the top of a shade-grown green tea plant. Matcha powder is ground whole leaves from the tea plant camellia sinensis, says Sarah Anderson, a functional medicine nurse practitioner and founder of Peak Integrative Wellness in Charlotte, North Carolina. Whereas green tea is made by steeping the tea leaves in water, matcha incorporates the full tea leaf, making it a more concentrated source of nutrients and caffeine, Anderson says.
Compared to other green teas, matcha has comparably higher caffeine content. While the caffeine in most green teas falls within 11.3 to 24.67 milligrams per gram, matcha has a caffeine content between 18.9 and 44.4 milligrams per gram. For reference, coffee beans typically have 10.0 to 12.0 milligrams of caffeine per gram of beans.
I love the Kenko matcha green tea. I have repurchased many times. It's always fresh with bright green color and fresh grassy taste. Plus the price is very reasonable. I will continue to purchase Kenko matcha.
I've tried several matchas. KENKO is sweeter, brighter and the least bitter matcha.Color is So so bright green. However, it clumps - my guess is because of all the shipping but if you have a milk frother or blender, no worries. After I went thru a 100 g bag I went to another non organic (way cheaper) and the color and taste variation was amazing. Not all matcha is created equal. Remember to buy organic and from Japan when you can, it makes a big flavor difference and KENKO matcha gives you all the wonderful matcha benefits you want. Happy sipping!

It also appears to contain more EGCG. ConsumerLab.com, an independent testing group, tested matcha products in 2015 and found that matcha provided 17 mg to 109 mg of EGCG per serving. By comparison, the average brewed green tea provides 25 to 86 mg per serving. While matcha powders contained more catechins per gram than brewed green tea, it was substantially more expensive: The lowest cost matcha powder was available at the time for $2.31 for 200mg of EGCG, compared to 27 cents for the same amount from brewed green tea. Compared to the powders, matcha in tea bags provides significantly less EGCG.
Drinking green tea and matcha are considered healthy and safe, but people sensitive to caffeine should be aware that both contain decent amounts of the stimulant. In 2016, the World Health Organization also linked the consumption of hot drinks, like coffee and tea, to a higher risk of cancer of the esophagus. However, the risk is much lower than the risk of cancer from other causes, like smoking.
The complementing blends make perfect cup companions. Made with our Biodynamic Darjeeling green tea, the delicate and fresh tasting green pairs beautifully with the bright matcha and soothing nettle.
Matcha is a powder made from ground green tea leaves. The Camellia Sinensis plant from which matcha leaves are harvested is also the mother plant for black tea, white tea, oolong, yellow tea, and other green teas. The varieties of flavors, colors, and textures of these different teas all vary due to how the plant is grown and the leaves are harvested.
As I received the package I couldn't help but notice the way packaging was so neat and well colored. Opening the bag was not a hassle all and when preparing the rich green matcha for the first time i was able to achieve ultimate froth status so light i could sing an Adele song. This tea rocks and my next order will soon be coming in hot!! Thanks for the opportunity to experience my roots in Japanese heritage.
When you add matcha powder to hot water to make tea, the tea contains all the nutrients from the entire leaf. It will tend to have more catechins and antioxidants than simply steeping green tea leaves in water.
