The second draw cycle will be the fall and winter red deer draw. This draw will begin on October 6 and will be held as part of the fall deer hunting season. This means that the tags which are eligible to be drawn will exist for the subsequent year. If you want to be eligible for the elk tags in 2013 you need to apply now. If you have already applied for elk or antelope tags you need to wait until the previously announced draw date to apply.
This tag cycle will run for both the fall elk draw and the winter red deer cull. This means that the tags used for that draw are eligible for drawing again next fall and winter (in 2013). This tag cycle starts on December 7 and runs through April 26, 2013.
Like the previous two draw tags, the fall elk and fall and winter red deer draws are for the use of cow, bull, and yearling/youth tag holders only. However this tag will let you apply to two more elk and two more red deer tags, which are not available to cow, bull, and yearling/youth hunters.
The first draw is for two elk tags and if you are drawn you have a one-year hunting opportunity on elk. If you are not drawn you are invited to apply. The next draw cycle will be for the fall big deer cull and winter white-tail deer cull. These two tags are for use by cow, bull, and yearling/youth hunters. For the fall and winter red deer cull a one-year tag is available for cow, bull, and yearling/youth hunters once again. If you draw, you have a one-year hunting opportunity on red deer. If you are not drawn you are invited to apply. Each of these three hunts can be applied for and will start in 2013.
Note: You cannot apply again for the same fall or winter black bear tags, and if you are drawn for both deer tags you have a two-year opportunity (for elk tags) and 20 year opportunity (for sport tags). The next one-year big game hunt will be the fall black bear hunt of 2014. d2c66b5586
