A good point is that the first lesson already comes with a full-length reading test. The question is simple and there is no need to memorize if you want to take the test. However, I still recommend you to memorize the answers since there are no graded tests as in JLPT. You will learn the new words in each reading test. So, it is good to retain them for later.
You know that So-matome is for both native and non-native learners. This means that there will be some free modules available (for free, not the bad modulo helps). These extra modules are included and they can be good to go the extra mile. The only aspect to keep in mind is that the free modules are simple in Japanese content.
I will recommend you to go through each chapter and each lesson before hand. This will help you to memorize smaller chunks of vocabulary specific to that chapter or to that lesson and learn to read the texts in a fresh and timely way. This might seem a little tedious, but this is actually what writing a review is all about. You have to take a step back from the big picture to look at what you have learned in the past few years.
I have bought almost all of my books for JLPT N5, except for Moebius and Kanzen. Reading them did not help me to further my understanding on writing the final test. So, there is no point in mentioning this book here because it doesn’t really add anything to your JLPT experience. You might be saying this book is a good addition to your Japanese vocabulary, but trust me, my Japanese vocabulary was at a good level already. Unless you want to read a book that you will never put down, I would recommend you to buy textbooks for JLPT N5. More people recommend So-matome because they feel that studying this textbook has made them better at the JLPT. d2c66b5586
